Greatness Starts @Home

The very first challenge we had in the MEGA Young Designers Competition is a “Proud to be me” challenge where we had to create an outfit that best reflects us and get the inspiration from an object from our childhood that kind of influenced and molded us into what we are today. I created a FOLDER inspired outfit. Why folder?!? I vividly remember spending my afternoons as a kid playing with my two sisters, we would cut folders and transform pieces of cardboard into paper dolls, planes and just about anything. We’d spend the rest of the afternoon cutting more papers to make clothes for our paper dolls. Oh the innocence and fun of it all! As my parents would come home from work (my father works in a bank and my mother is a teacher) they would bring home more folders and papers all the time. Hoorah! More folder, means more fun! 🙂

During college, I decided to take a course which is kind of strange to my parents (BS Clothing Technology) but being the ever supportive parents that they are, they let me follow my dream.

My mom has always been my toughest client as a designer but she has also been my constant inspiration, my sisters are my best cheerleaders and my father has been my constant guide. They are the backbone of everything that I do, and they have been my constant supporters, keeping me fueled up to give my best in everything that I do.

Hence, I dedicate my winning of the title as MEGA Young Designer 2012 to my ever loving and supportive family. Greatness truly starts at home, that’s where one is being formed and transformed to greatness! It’s just cool to look back that those afternoons spent cutting folders into paper dolls actually led into something fruitful. And of course, nothing could have been ever possible with out the support of my parents. <3 <3 <3
